Solid-state and other advanced batteries may improve range, charging or safety, but laboratory promise is not the same as mass-production proof.

What headlines leave out
Cycle life, cold-weather operation, fast-charging durability, manufacturing yield and cost all matter. A prototype cell is not a production battery pack.
